Antisocial/Risky Behaviour
Nowadays, adults are seen behaving inappropriately, inciting violence and anger. Their acts like misusing the public space or property, fighting, hitting, drinking or smoking, drug and substance abuse are harming the society. These acts may range from social unacceptance to even breaking laws. A psychologist plays an important role in behavioural modification of an individual for reduction in these risky behaviours of creating violence which result in breaking of laws.
Workplace Problems
Adults spend a lot of time of their lives at work and experience various workplace problems. It is difficult and impossible for a person to get a job according to their likes- dislikes, personality traits and other factors. Common workplace problems include miscommunication, interpersonal conflicts, groupism, harassment, work style, long shifts, which may affect one’s physical and mental health. There are various ways in which therapy may be useful to help resolve workplace issues. Therapy can effectively treat depression, anxiety, and other mental health symptoms that result from workplace issues. Therapists can also teach healthy coping skills that individuals may use to manage work-related stress and other issues.
Peer Groups and Influence
Just like children, adults also face peer pressure and influence. Many young adults experience peer pressure, at work and in their social life. They want to feel accepted, and that makes individuals do various things to get that acceptance. This pressure can be positive if the peer group is supportive and encouraging whereas, it can be negative if the peer group is prone to addiction or risky behaviours. A counsellor can help one deal with such peer pressure and its mental impact effectively.
